Before You Execute That Commercial Lease
Before you execute that lease, make sure you have addressed and considered your business interests and reduce your liabilities as much as possible given the type of business you own. Too often when we are hired to advise, help address CRE needs , strategize, and/or negotiate leases, not a lot of thought is put forth in the details such as issues like how trying to sell your business is affected by the lease your about to sign or what happens and what is your liability if you or a key person dies in the business along many other things to consider. While the monthly cost of your lease is important so are the details that will govern your relationship with the landlord as everything is all good when nothing goes wrong but rarely everything happens that smoothly.
